Leave Me Alone;
I'm Trying!!!

Choose One StepThis always reminds me of when my parents decided to quit smoking. My father just woke up one fine day, decided to quit cold-turkey, and hasn't smoked since (it's been years). My mother, on the other hand, began by resisting the idea; she tried to talk herself into believing this was a pleasure that was not harmful to her and she didn't want to have to give up. Then she decided that she would never get sick, or would at least die quickly in an accident before she got too old and sick, so she would escape having a long-drawn disease like cancer (I gotta say she's very determined about this, and I have no doubt she'll get her way). Then, when she realized she couldn't ignore what the smoking habit was doing to her body anymore (and no accidents have come her way yet), she decided to try to quit. After several patch treatments, she still hasn't been able to break the habit. But the point is that she did get to the same realization in the end, is trying to quit, and did manage to make some progress by smoking less than she used to. She just has to go through her own process, at her own pace. Not that many of us can quit anything cold-turkey.

In case you're wondering (or think you already know the answer): I take after my mother and my father. Depending on the situation, I can act like both of them at the same time..
